Podological prostheses-clasps

Ortonixia is an innovative method for the correction of all types of ingrown and tubular deformed nails. This medical method enables the avoidance of surgical intervention. Reduction of the nail plate, except for being painful, gives a large number of recurrences, which distinguishes podological prostheses as a therapeutic option that quickly, completely painlessly and permanently relieves the patient of pain. Similar to dentures, podiatric dentures correct nail deformity, allowing for healthy, natural nail growth. Podological prostheses are adapted to each nail, they are placed without anesthetics, and by raising the edges of the nail, they give instant relief to the patient. They are suitable for all age categories, including newborns and diabetics. Simple, gentle application, absence of allergic reactions, enable daily routine and sports activities.

The prostheses in use today were developed in 1980 at the Institute of Orthonixia, Erlangen, Germany. They are made of medical steel wire or silicone tape in which the wire itself is impregnated. Placing a prosthesis requires an individual approach, depending on the shape of the nail plate itself, to permanently solve the problem. It is placed over the dorsal side of the nail, encompassing the side edges. Lifting them, the tissue is released from the pressure, and the pain stops. The prosthesis is changed once a month and is held from 6 months to a year.
